This is not a restaurant. This is a home.
We open the doors to our house, a living space where food comforts, the toast brings us together, and the moment invites you to stay a little longer. A place where Mexico isn’t presented, it’s lived. Where every table becomes a meeting point, every dish tells a story, and every moment is intentional. Here, everything is shared: the tables, the stories, the joy. And in that very Mexican way of always making room for one more.
Welcome to Cantina Leon.
Welcome home.
If there’s a visionary behind Cantina Leon, it’s our Chef and Co-Owner, Gerardo “Gerry” B. De Negri. Born and raised in Mexico to South American parents, Gerry’s path has crossed continents and cuisines, from building a chain of gastro bars in Mexico City, to training in Paris, to opening Spanish, French, and Mexican kitchens of his own. For seventeen years, he has called Miami home. Cantina Leon is the culmination of all of it: generational recipes, a lifetime of craft, and the unmistakable warmth of a Mexican home. Hand-pressed tortillas. Salsas made fresh each morning. Plates that taste the way Mexico remembers them.
A real cantina isn’t just a place to drink. It’s where stories find their voice. Where strangers become regulars and regulars become “familia”. Where the toast is loud, the warmth is real, and every table becomes a meeting point. At Cantina Leon, that tradition lives behind the bar kept alive by Miami’s most extensive tequila and mezcal collection, gathered from generations of families who still make their spirits the way their grandfathers did. Slowly. With patience. With reverence. Beside it, the city’s largest selection of Mexican wine and beer, and a list of cocktails poured with the same care.
Pull up a stool. Stay a little longer. This is your house.
